a series of unfortunate events...

No offense to those who loved this book and movie, but I wasn't a big fan. Jim Carrey, in the movie, just bugs. But, Melody, my sis-in-law, made an observation that Ms. Tillie looks like the like little Sunny (played by the Hoffman twins). I agree!

Anyway, I digress, yet again.

So, even though I'm not in love with the book or movie, I do like the title and it's applicability to REAL life sometimes.

You wanna hear? Probably not, but I'm gonna tell you anyway.

#1. As many of you with small children know, any simple task that would normally take a half hour to hour to accomplish, takes MUCH longer. For example, I was working on a new floral pattern all day yesterday. In total, I probably clocked 4 + hours on the project.

Last night at 10:32 p.m. "Adobe Illustrator Unexpectedly Quit"---thank you, Mac. I gasped! Put my hand to my mouth, and realized that, in fact, I hadn't saved it since the previous night... hence losing all that effort/time.

Now remember, I'm 27 weeks pregnant (I'm pretty sure about this), and dumb things are traumatic for me, and I proceeded to SOB MY EYES out. Poor Aaron. He's really nice and fiddled around with the program for a while to see if there was some way to retrieve the file for his hysterical wife. But, to no avail.

The thing is, it wasn't like I can't re-create the darn thing again, it's just all that time I already spent is now vanished and I have nothing to show for it. You know?

#2. Since our arrival back in Texas, Tillie is having a hard time staying asleep at night. She goes down fine, but then has decided to wake up at 10:30 p.m., 4:30 a.m., 5:30 a.m., and then wake up for real at 6:30 a.m. Let's just say, we're not big fans of this idea. We think those molars in the back of her mouth may be to blame.

(photo used courtesy of someone's flickr site, here's the link. and thanks to whoever it is that took
the shot of their dog to illustrate my point).

#3. This morning on our jog, we discovered that some lady had accidentally hit a little brown chihuahua on her way to work. It happened just seconds before we arrived on the scene.

Now, mind you, I'm not a big fan of animals unless they are puppies or small kittens (or baby giraffes, elephants, baby chimps, etc.). But, I couldn't help but feel SO sad about this little dog struggling for life.

I'll spare you the gory details (and it was graphic, trust me), but I couldn't help but feel proud of my neighbors who, not knowing who the dog belonged to---got a towel, picked up the whimpering and bleeding dog, and wrapped it up and took it to the vet. I don't know if I would have done that, and I was really impressed that they dropped everything to take care of that little dog, especially b/c it wasn't their fault.

Anyway, it was sad. It was disturbing. I tried to turn Tillie's stroller so she couldn't see it all happening. She is such a fan of dogs (and every animal for that matter, and calls each one a "dog"), and I didn't want to scar her for life. Hopefully the little dog makes it out okay.

#4. Again, on our jog (I promise, not all mornings are this eventful), a little old Latino man with a huge mustache saw me jogging up and down his cul-de-sac and just stopped mid-stride to his truck to watch me. Feeling a little awkward, I waved and said, "hi" to which he raised his fist and exclaimed, "Nice, lady, Nice!"

Thanks?

#5. Then, a big black man in a Chevy truck gawked at me as he was passing. His expression was a little confused as he looked down at my belly, looked back up at my face, and then smiled big and yelled, "Go!"

(picture will make sense in a minute, read on, this is the hat).

Wow. Am I that much of a spectacle? Well, probably. Tillie is in her floral pajamas with a big sun hat on (her decision, not mine), I'm in an old t-shirt that is squeezing my stomach, huge basketball shorts of Aaron's (hey, they are comfortable) and my face is BEET red (i blame genetics), and I can usually be found DRIPPING with tons of sweat (another perk of exercising in the Texas humidity---you feel much better about your efforts when you can wring out your shirt).

okay. I give. I guess it is quite the site.

Anyway, the day is looking much better, because we've exercised, showered, dressed, and eaten breakfast (it is only 9:20 a.m.).
I finished all the work from yesterday (yes, I'm still doing that accounts receivable job 3 days a week).
I have a new Scentsy FALL scent just delivered from my favorite Scentsy vendor (thanks, Melissa!) and it's making my house smell all nice and cozy.
AND the day is WIDE open for anything I want!! I think unpacking the rest of my things and laundry sounds good to me!

Anyway, thanks for humoring me, yet again.
