give away, oh give away...

Give said the little stream (tell me you know that song).

So, we give.

As promised, I think we should GIVE AWAY 18 FAT QUARTERS of our Rainy Days and Mondays fabric line (click here to see whole line) from Riley Blake Designs. You think? Me thinks so too.

Perhaps you are wondering, "What is a Fat Quarter?" Lesson of the day: It is a piece of fabric that measures 18" x 22" inches. Ta da! Yes, you are welcome.

So, it gives me great pleasure to inform you, that if you WIN, you will receive the 18 different patterns used in the fabric line. Let's talk value, people. This is over a $50 value and you have the chance to get it for FREE.
Can you feel the love tonight? (quick, name that movie. we watched it not once, but TWICE today. Yes, I was finding new insurance today = not fun = sorry Tillie).

Ahhh, I digress...
"What would I do with all those Fat Quarters??" you might be asking yourself. Well, you could do lots. Like create throw pillows, make a ruffle skirt, fabric flowers, there are so many ideas.

Here are a few we found scouring the web:
Thanks to some of my darling friends, I saw that Ashley, from the famous Make It and Love It blog, created a tutorial for a lovely little framed decoration. Click here to see the tutorial (p.s. that Ashley is really nice and has some RAD projects on her blog!). Here are a few photos she allowed me to use.

Next, we heard that the ladies at Material Girls are using the fabric with modge-podge to transform a bathroom (I think a trash can and soap dispenser were involved. Also, they are also making a shower curtain too! Now, I don't profess to be a big sewer, but I don't think the 18 Fat Quarters will accommodate an entire shower curtain... hA! but it would be a start!).

We found that this blog, Bee in My Bonnet, made a paper doll quilt (see darling image here).

Found these darling outfits from Nanoo Designs' photo-stream on Flickr.

Then went onto ETSY to found these delights:

Like this Laptop sleeve from Bertie's Closet. See purchasing information here.

And, hello, check out this Parade Dress from Lottie Da's Etsy store. Oh my. SO darling. And, it made it to the ETSY front page? So cool!

Okay, and we also found these two items from MadBird's Etsy store. LOVE them. What great ideas (see below)! Introducing the drawstring REVERSIBLE Project bag &
Needle/Crochet Hook Organizer. Sweet!
Anyway, we're loving all the fun things we've been finding. If you have a fun idea or have seen something you want to share, let us know and we'll spotlight it too!

BACK TO THE MAIN EVENT!!!
So, if you'd like to win the FAT QUARTER 18 PACK, this is all you have to do:
In the COMMENT section let us know what you'd like to see next on fabric. We'd love to hear some of your creative ideas for upcoming fabric lines. And, if you can't think of specific DESIGN ideas, let us know what some of your favorite COLOR combo's are. What do you wish you saw more of?

That's it. That's all you there is to it. Feel free to pass this along to anyone you might know that likes FREE fabric. hA!

The GIVE-AWAY will CLOSE at MIDNIGHT on Monday, April 3rd (central time). So, as our mom would say, "have at it!" I'll choose the winner using the random.org number generator. So, it's fair and square.

GOOD LUCK!

Can I just say how much I LOVE your fabric? Seriously! My friend Sydney works at Broadbents in Lehi and she made thee cutest purse out of your fabric to put on display there... It is seriously to die for!
Fabric I would love to see next? I have always been so bugged at all of the music related fabric...they are all SO ugly. I know you girls would make adorable music notes and instruments. Let's face it, all of the fellow music teachers would LOVE it!

Danielle said...

I am all over this giveaway! Oh My! I loved seeing all the fabrics in person on Wednesday night! YEAH!

I love the idea from the comment above about music fabric too. I also like cute patchwork robots or something like that. Also..cute punk (guitars) material.

I just love this line! Who wouldn't? As far as something on the next line.... I think it would be fun to see an old fashion playground fabric and/or school fabric. Like slides, swings, hopscotch, etc. You guys are such awesome designers that whatever you come up with will be fab!

Unknown said...

My friend Danielle was telling me about your fabric. The whole line is very cute! I would make some dresses with it for my daughters.

I am looking for material to make my daughter a quilt for her room with purple and mint green, so that would be my design suggestion.

Krista said...

fun!!

fruit and/or cupcakes... :)

ANYTHING you come up with will be genius I'm sure!!

Your fabric is adorable. Every quilting store I go into, I brag that I know the designers of the fabric!!!!!
Ok girls we need fabric that has some whimsical sports designs. Sounds crazy I know, there is boy fabric, but not cute girl sports stuff.

AubreyB said...

I'm not sure about what to put on the fabric (although I do love your ideas of robots, cowboys, etc for boys - there are so many girl things out there), but I love bright colors. No pastels, just bright pinks & blues & yellows & greens, etc. Just my 2 cents. :)

I LOVE the umbrella print!!! I would love to get my hands on some. Maybe make a some bags, or a dress for my daughter or some super cute baby items!!!

I would like to see some vintage toys, like the spinnig tops, wagons, trikes, old rocking horses. Stuff like that would be AWESOME

WOW! You are an inspiration, Melis. So, I gotta ask---how did you get started with this? How did it go from great idea to great product? I have an idea that should be born, but I have no idea how to go about it---and no---it's nowhere near the cute factor of your fabric line.

Anywho--give-away? Yes, please. :) Ideas...hmmm...gardening tools? Like gloves and trowels mixed in with tulips and daffodils and springy flowers?

OR...turtles! I was looking for turtle prints lately, but couldn't find any that were cute with bright, not pastel, colors for a baby room. Bring it on! I can't wait to see what else is coming from Melimba and Beccabury!

melody said...

Birds! I think that'd be wonderful! And I really do still wish that the orange line existed...but alas, I guess you have been there and done that! haha, oh well! I just think that the little chicks you draw are the most adorable thing since sliced bread. aha...yeah, but more adorable than that, because quite honestly I don't find bread too adorable.
Oh....or maybe bugs....haha, weird I know. But that is my two cents!...cat and mouse? dog and cat? I don't know...whatever!
You are awesome melissa!!! I am excited to see ya! woot!

Aimee said...

Love the fabric, and would LOVE to win some!

I love all the ideas listed above!

Especially the Music, turtles and fruit! I always like candy too. :)

Hannah said...

I'd like the see red and teal or red and grey.

I'd like to see some birds too!

Selena Huff said...

Hey, Melissa. I love your fabrics and other designs. It would be fun to see what the two of you could do with paisley or feet. It probably sounds like I'm kidding, but it could be fun.
I also think we need some less "traditional" patriotic or Texas fabrics. I'm bored with those I find in the run of the mill stores.
Megan says she likes trains.

Keep having fun!

Nicole said...

As I have said before - beautiful fabric and congratulations!! I cannot wait either to make some fun fabric goodies with your line - sewing is just too fun with such awesome prints.

My little girl is big into nature - snails, leaves, flowers, gardening...and so on, but she also loves purple. If I had any talent in the design area, this might be what I would tackle simply to fuel her love of all things natural! Thanks for letting us all play along and have a beautiful Easter!!

Jenni said...

Your fabric is so popular!! No wonder though...it's so cute!!! How about little cute birdies. I swear there used to be the cutest little bird on the top of your blog, but it's not there anymore. Maybe I am remembering wrong?

cbo said...

Thanks for showing the fun pictures!

I would like to see fabric to make bedding/curtains etc. for my teenage boy. I know that isn't much but everything that I have seen is so juvenile, tacky or bizarre. I don't have a suggestion for a theme...teens change their mind so quickly! Maybe that is why I can't find anything to suit him!
Reds, blues, greens, browns and tans...

I also agree about the music fabric.

Cappell Family said...

Ok you guys are amazing!!! Mel issa I just love all of them.

I really love Lime green and brown my favorite two colors or black and red. I am not very creative but here goes- candy, paint, rollerskates, ice cream and popsicles, cakes and cupcakes (sprinkles) well thats about it. I hope I win. It will make a cute rag quilt!

erin said...

Ooo, pick me! pick me! :) haha.
I love the idea of decorating a bathroom in rainy day stuff. How fun!
Seems to me that there is a lot more fabric for girls then for little boy out there! Luke would love a cool airplane blanket! Airplanes and pilots or something?? And, bright fun colors are my fav. Or how about some with your darling bugs?? I liked the birdie suggestion too :)

Lisa said...

Such cute fabric! I love it! I want to make a Rainy Day Quilt. You know the kind that's backed in flannel or minky and I can pull out when it's rainy or cold or I'm in need of warm fuzzies. I would love to see more boy fabric. There are so many cute girl fabrics out there, not many boy designs. Thanks for the opportunity to win!

Becky said...

I would love to see more of the blues and oranges. Anything boy really. I can never really find good boy fabrics that are truely "BOY" Love your work!

racharooo said...

YOU ARE FAMOUS!! I always knew since high school that your "doodles" would take you somewhere!
Okay, for ideas. Going along with the rainyness, how about a rain boot pattern? They are so in right now.
PICK ME!!!

Angela said...

Melissa! I love love love the fabric. I can't get enough of it...it's just so fun. You and Becca are truly AMAZING. Love it!
So, I totally love the color pink, it's my favorite. What about a "girly" line...handbags, shoes, dresses, polk a dots, stripes, pinks, browns...I don't know, just a thought.
You guys are AWESOME!!

sarah said...

You are just amazingly talented, it blows my mind!

I think it'd be fun to see some things that were "little boy".

mandy said...

Hello, Hello! Oh, I just LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT! You are famous, I can finally say that I know someone famous! Well, I have been leaving fabric stores less inspired these days, y'alls line is quite the "pick me up." Maybe some fun vintage airplanes, cars or sometimes it's hard to find fabric that is cute but with toned down colors! Congrats you two!

mandy sue

Tim and Melissa said...

How fun! I love all of the fun things people have already made from your darling fabric!
I also put my vote in for airplanes - simple or old classic airplanes...not the fancy jets and stuff. I was looking for that when I did Dylan's room in navy and green with other shades, but never found what I was looking for.

Maria said...

What adorable fabric! I would love to have it to play with :)

The Girl said...

Ok. I have never done anything in my life with fabric...so I feel like I should not try to win. But it is so cute I would love to have them and I would promise I would do something with them! lol. Plus you live close and could give me suggestions.

There were some good ideas on there...like more boy friendly stuff.

But lets see...my favorite color combo would maybe include a chocolate brown?

Bonnie said...

WOW! I just found out you are Emily Snyder's sisters. Obviously, great talent runs in the family. My son Kimball was in her first year teaching at Geneva. Anyway, I love your fabric. I was just reading about this new line on another blog last nite. My favorite fabric choice right now is any color that is paired up with brown. As for ideas, how about something with some paisley's?

Paige said...

I love the color orange! My daughter's nursery is bright pink, light pink, yellow and orange. I love it but I am having trouble finding cute patterns in orange. I also like really large flowers all bunched together. Not roses!

Unknown said...

I love your fabic so much it is so cute. I really like gray. But there needs to be cuter patterns.

Leah said...

How fun is that to see all the cute things people are making with your fabric?? I love it all.

So, my favorite colors are maroon and gold. Just kidding, ew. Those were my middle school's colors. Gag. For real, though, I love greens and purples, probably b/c I have to find colors that look good on redheads; cool colors look better than warm ones. Oh, and I love toile.

Good luck to everyone (especially me, though) on winning!

Amie said...

I just learned about your blog and your fabric from Emily's FB post! Darling. I love mustard and grey together. How fun!

RBadger said...

I love your fabric line! So cute! I am taking my first quilting class right now and I am already thinking what I could do with your fabric on my next quilt.

Some of my favorite colors are mixed with browns - blue, pink, yellow...etc. I also love the music idea - music notes, staffs, etc. Also, so some boy fabric with more of a 30's feel with colors, etc.

Katie E said...

Hey Melissa! Remember me? Katie (Jenkins) Ellingson here! Aaron's mom gave me your blog address and can I tell you I am a fan? Your kids are adorable! and i'm in love with your fabric too :) I live in Pennsylvania and there is a fabric shop that I have been wanting to stop by and tell them to get your line :) My suggestion would be some cute vintage nursery rhyme fabric. I was looking for some the other day and all that I could find was really "babyish".

How do you like living in Texas? How much longer are you going to be there? Clint and I might be moving to Temple in about a year.

Anyway, pick me! I would love to be the receiver of your beautiful fabric :)

Jen Ketcher said...

I'd love to see more "boy" fabrics. Things you'd want to use to make boy clothes, blankets, toys, etc. Cute designs!

Sarah C. said...

Count me in this giveaway! I LOVE your fabric!!
Maybe because I'm thinking along the boy lines, but there is NOTHING for the lil lads out there!
I'd love to see your spin on transportation - planes, trains, boats...
OR.. a theme around a place -- ocean/beach, park, ranch, etc...
Whatever you do, I'd buy it - you're a genius!

Amy Solomon said...

I love your fabric! It's adorable!! Anyway, I have a current obsession with owls and monsters...not together though! :)

Kris said...

Robots! Seriously, my new grandbaby needed a robot quilt (until He turned into She) and I could find no fun robots...just cutesy.
Saw your fabrics at 6 stores during the shop hop last week and bragged that I knew the MOM of the designers!

liz hawkins said...

I love this line! What a great give-a-way. Thanks!!

Shar said...

Wow Melissa! You are my new claim to fame! I'm going to tell all, "Hey, I knew her in high school!" And then I might add, "And she had this wheely backpack that I watched her pull through the snow in the parking lot. So yeah, now she's double cool."

In conclusion, I definitely wants some of your adorable rainy day fabrique! Please randomly choose me!

But I think that you could possibly do a fantastic line of the different seasons. You know kind of make them all "match". Rainy days. "Mae Showers" with adorable flowers. (Mae, after the one and only) And something clever for fall. Could be cute! What do you think?

Ok, I just love all your stuff. Congrats on it all. Like my Mom always says, "Go big or go home." And you are definitely not going home.

Cnbztribe said...

CUTE fabric! Love the umbrellas!
I think little owls or birds would be cute for fabric.

Kira said...

my friend danielle was mentioning how cute this fabric was, and she's right! and as for ideas??? i am really loving the muted turquoise/red combo lately.

I want to be in the give away! Wow Melissa---I just LOVE your fabric!! So so cute. And I love the shower curtain idea--that would go so perfect with your fabric.
Anyways, I really don't have any suggestions off the top of my head--I'm at the end of my pregnancy and my brain isn't functioning at it's fullest :) I just love it all!

Jordan and Jandee said...

OH my goodness, wouldn't this be the best win ever! Seriously. And for future design inspiration, lately I've been in love with circus tents and those old fashioned bicycles (you know the one with the really really big front wheel?) However, I'm sure anything you do will be lovely!

You have great fabrics! They are all so cute. Currently, I am in love with grey/silver. I sort of fancy it with anything, but my fav's are pairing it with a muted yellow, pink or turquoise.

Kristen said...

you are so talented. I love bright ones and muted ones. bright orange and sherbet pink or muted brown, mint green and soft pink. Lily has a shirt with the color combo of navy blue with bright pink, lime green, bright orange and iris purple and white. It's awesome. I love it. I guess I am not the best to ask because I am so indecisive.

I agree a cool boy theme would be nice. Airplanes with an accent panel of stars?

I LOOOOOOOOOOOVE your fabric! I think it would be so cute if you did something with mushrooms. or maybe dandelions when they turn to those white sprouty things. yeah, that would be cute. but, then again anything that you girls do will be simply fabulous.

Mikael Squire said...

YAY for team Snyder!
My two favorite colors in the whole world are Turquiose and Coral. And a little copper never hurt. You only see them together is Native American/southwestern patterns. Why can't they be cutsey too?
Patterns? Dandelions are a great idea. OR
I have never been able to resist a pattern with an influence of India

I just met becca and love her fabric line. Such a talented girl. If I won the fabric I would make some aprons for my little girls and some fabric headbands and maybe a little smock too. Thanks for the giveaway, I really hope I win!

I am SOOOOO EXCITED about this fabric! I've been showing it to all of my friends and my favorite little local fabric shop. I already bought 4 yards to make some baby quilts! What genius prints!

As far as prints go, I would LOVE to see some CUTE penguin prints! I've looked all over for something like that that would work for little girls but no luck!

No matter what you do next, I can't wait to see!

Lindsay said...

I don't really feel worthy of winning the fabric, but I still really want it!

Maybe lanterns or something for the next line. Better yet...cuckoo clocks! Crossing my fingers!
