What do we know about the "Bella" or "Belly bands"? Aaron thought I was talking about a Belly Dancing mechanism, but no... I am definitely not taking up belly dancing at this point in my life. :) Sorry to disappoint.
Here's a picture. I don't want to post this picture, because the one it shows has bare stomach...and if I show it, then I won't be able to keep our "PG-13" rating on our blog...heaven forbid, it might make it worse! :) I can't believe that because I talked about dead animals a while back, and killing ants, that we really deserve that rating. Sheesh.
ANYWAY, have you heard of these? They are essentially a big rubber band of cloth that goes around your middle, making it easier to wear "pre-maternity" clothes...like your favorite pants. How? I guess you can have your buttons undone and zippers half way down, but then you put this rubber band thing around you and no one knows the difference. I guess it just looks like you have on an undershirt and are layering your clothes (nice explanation, I know).
But, have we heard of these? More importantly, have we TRIED one of these yet? I haven't. Have you? Obviously this if for the gals out there...unless for some odd reason, some of you boys have some knowledge on the subject. I can just see Aaron being really thrilled that I posted this today. Not! Too bad. Pregnancy is taking over life now and we ALL get to accept that. Lovely, just lovely. So, team, enlighten me, if you please.

Hey! Your so cute! Thats a way cute picture! So I have heard of these and seen them but I never tried them, so I guess I cant help you too much. I am anxious to see if peopel really do like them though. I got by with wearing my normal clothes for a while (I hate maternity clothes!)but this would have made it a lot easier!
Sorry-no experience here either-but it sounds like a fantastic idea! One of those would have made life a lot easier (because I was one of those pregnant women who didn't want to wear maternity clothes so just wore things unbuttoned and unzipped!) Let me know what you find out.
Hey Melis! I haven't tried one of those, but I did buy a couple of Shade shirts that were long and it had pretty much the same effect...and that worked. The only downside with the band thing that I could see is if it really stays in place, or if it starts to slide down or bunch...but the shade thing works, I wore normal jeans the whole 9 months with Miss Abbie!
Hey my friend uses it and she absolutely loves it. I haven't used it. I didn't hear about it my last pregnancy so I just bought a size 8 jean and wore those the whole pregnancy. Doing the same thing this time. But apparently they are pretty nice. I hate maternity pants. I never wear them because it's not like your legs are getting bigger just the tummy. So it's a great idea I think. However, one thing that I absolutely love during the pregnancy is overalls...i know i know dorky but you have absolutely nothing on your tummy so it is really really comfortable and scott says that he actually likes them. So I wear them. Hope this helps.
Hey Melissa-
I guess i'm the only one who has tried it. Well not the expensive brand but a cheaper knock off of them from Ebay. And when I was pregnant, it worked really well for a couple of reasons...first, when I was pregnant, it was hot...I'm telling you HOT so the less layers, the better so it allowed me to wear normal modest shirts with it underneath for length and stuff, which is the second reason. Yet they claim that you can wear afterwards while nursing to cover your belly and such so you can lift your shirt to nurse and be safe...yet mine was stretched out so much that it doesn't fit anymore...sooooo who knows with that. But maybe if I wasn't such a cheap skate and bought the "bella band" maybe it wouldn't have stretched? Who knows...but those are my thoughts on the subject.
I have never tried this brand that is fashion related, but I have tried one of those elastic with velcro brands to old my belly up while pregnant. It was a MUST while doing dishes and making dinner or going somewhere and standing a lot because it takes off so much pressure off your back. This seems similar...I would recommend it or the other for sure when your back starts to kill.
I have heard of them and seen them, but never tried them. So probably I shouldn't even post, because I am of no help...but they look really awesome. And I say try one, so I can ask you how it works and maybe with my next baby I will try it.
I obviously haven't tried these because, well, I have no children. My friends have used them and loved them.
I have a friend who used this product once. Well not really but you could imagine if I had a friend who used this product. I am sure she would have loved it.
Mel, I had a friend that I danced with that swore by these! I have seen one in person, and she said that they were really comfortable! I think you should try it for sure! I love reading your blog!
