3.5 year old tillie's room 2012 -- faux hot air balloons

In light of the last post, I want you to know I don't play favorites.  Tillie wasn't in a crib/bed transitioning state, so alas, we got to decorating her room earlier.  I knew I wanted to hang up a few of my lanterns in her room, but didn't know how I wanted to do it.

I scoured Pinterest for ideas, but didn't LOVE anything I'd found.  And, of course, I knew I wanted to recreate that tent I had found.  How could they live in harmony?  These were the questions that filled my mind for weeks and weeks.  1st World Problem.  I know.  I know.

We had hung up the lanterns several months ago, but lately I've been in a big hot air balloon kick (mark my words, they will be all the rage soon) and I thought it would be a fun idea to pretend that the lanterns were hot air balloons.  Luckily for Aaron, I already had those paper soufle' cups, so it didn't cost me any extra money.  It's amazing the things I have in that craft room of mine!  :)

p.s. we purposely hung the tent a little off the floor, b/c I didn't want the kids to sit on the side of it and have it pulled from the ceiling.  Comprendo?  I like the LOOK of it being able to touch the ground, but for a practical gal like me, we opted on floating it a little higher.

I wish I could figure out how to make those bulky cords go away... but alas, what to do?!  The dimmer switch on the big lantern is so far out from the wall, that if I pushed her night stand (which Aaron happened to build in 9th grade!) in front of it, all her little books fall back behind.  So, alas, the cords will bug me forever.  Let's not focus on those anymore, okay?  good.

Uncle Jesse gave that Hello Kitty doll (and a matching backpack) to her for Christmas.  She LOVES it and would take it EVERYWHERE if I would let her.
Seashells we got in St. John a few weeks ago (oh, yeah! I gotta post about that trip!!?!), Tillie loves playing with them and "listening to the ocean."  :)

I bought this book for Christmas and it is DARLING DARLING DARLING.  I love the illustrations and the message.  If you are looking for a GREAT book that made me tear up, feel free to buy/check it out!  I Am Small by Emma Dodd.  You can thank me later.

Tillie thought it would be a good idea if she had me take some pictures of her in her room.  I couldn't have agreed more with her.  Here she is playing... doing what she does BEST in her room.
Best. Face. Ever.  I think this was a pre-sneeze face.  And those nostrils?  Yes, she IS my child.

I love this one with her laying on her bed.

FAKER poses!  She kills me.

These next two are much better.  True Tillie Mae.

And close up time.  Look what Nana did to the quilt!  I love this idea!  And pretty fun that she put our fabric selvedge on there too.

Good times in Tillie's room.
Hope you enjoyed the tour.

Darling, darling, darling. That quilt is so beautiful. Did you know most of your fabrics are sold out everywhere?!! I've only been able to collect 2. That's what I get for procrastinating. And btw, the tree is fantastic and it so happens I've been working on one for our living room, great minds think alike- hope it turns out as nice as yours.

Love the lanterns. Jacob had them hanging in his nursery. Now he picked a giant stick on Yoda instead of lanterns. Where did I go wrong?
