beauty pagents and sugar consumption.

Hey team! :) So, I want everyone to be proud. I made a REAL dinner today. Trust me, it doesn't happen that often...if ever, so today is a real milestone in our lives. What did I decide to make? They are called chicken -rollups. It involves an 8oz. thing of cream cheese, a can of cream of chicken, chicken cut up into cubes (which I did so well, even though Aaron told me that in the future "cubing" chicken shouldn't take 15-20 minutes, that in reality it is a 2 minute tops job...grrrrr), and croissant rolls. Mix it together and what do ya got? deliciousness in every bite.

Seriously, Aaron can attest, whenever I do spend the effort making something REAL, it NEVER works or tastes right or it burns...or something. Then I am left upset crying into a sink full of a million dishes! So, today...my friends, a real victory was won. If nothing else, I am totally full of pride. :)

Now, I am going to give you this link. I worry in some ways, I'm not trying to make fun of this Miss Teen Contestant from South Carolina, it is just the saddest thing. Truly, as I was watching it, my heart broke for her. It was so awkward and sad, yet a tinsy bit funny at the same time.

Hmmm....with that said, see for yourself. Aaron found it and showed it to me a few minutes ago. And, you know, with all new and interesting things I find, I love to pass it along to ya'll. Let me know what you think, okay? good.

Also, another tidbit I just found out from Aaron...In colonial times, sugar consumption for americans was 2lbs. a year. Guess what it is now? 3 lbs a week!!!!

What do I have to say to that? Pass me those left over chocolate chip cookies and let me finish that bowl of Fruity Pebbles!

LOL That is hilarious. Joe and I watched it and thought it was pretty funny. " Um....because we don't have maps..." Just her accent was really funny. And so crazy about the sugar intake..I probably contribute too much to that percentage...

Oh Melissa, I have a hard time believing that you can't cook when I saw your delicious chocolate cupcakes! I need aaron to hook up my speakers again. Or maybe I should stop being lazy and do it myself.

ha! i was thinking you were talking about MY aaron, not your aaron! I thought, when did he hook up your speakers? :) yes, you definitely need volume for this one.
baking vs. cooking...in my opinion, two very different things. :)

Okay, so I am happy to see an updated page. I'll say you have been an updating queen lately and have no reason for an apology, with such a busy life and with how much you have been able to keep us informed on life. Anyway, congrats on making something for dinner. I wasn't so great at cooking when Marc and I lived at Wymount and now that we eat every meal in Janae's kitchen....well lets just say I'm going to have a real shocker coming when I have to move out and actually step foot in the kitchen for something other than just eating. :)

How truely sad...I'm at a loss for words (as she must have been too). I'm impressed by your mad cooking skills! I'm sure it was yummy!

I love the random info you seem to know. Sugar - yea, I'm definitely consuming too much a week!

Ha! Ha! Way to go 'Scholarship Program'!! That poor girl. I, myself have made chicken roll-ups almost too many times and I am afraid that I have perfected them!! Try adding red, yellow and orange bell peppers and rolling the croissant in bread crumbs. Delicious I tell you! Delicious!

Good job on the meal! Quintin is always happy when I cook, but today he was able to cook a meal without setting off our smoke alarm! Thanks for posting that video too, so funny!

Melis! I just came across your blog and you are now my inspiration! If you can do it so can I. I believe that if the American people don't know how to cook, then it is because they don't have a kitchen... or maps. And by the way, I just saw your cute quilt! Cute!

That poor girl!!! How sad! Where do you find all this stuff? The video, the stats on sugar? I feel so dumb when I read other people's blogs!!! Good job on the dinner!!

Before thinking about what to make for dinner, I think about what to make for dessert. It's sad, but true. I will probably die at 40 from diabetes, but I will die with a smile on my face!
